IB Biology

IB Biology Study Guide Maker

IB Biology (Diploma Programme) combines core content, options and internal assessment skills. Official assessment models, command terms and subject guides are published by the IB — use those documents for current assessment details. This page does not invent grade boundaries or paper weightings.

Try an example:

Study Guide Maker turns your class slides, text-based PDF readings, Word handouts or pasted notes into topic guides with page citations, a glossary, practice questions and flashcards. Choose the AP/IB level. Make one guide per topic or sub-topic from your course materials, then practice with past papers and markschemes your school provides.

How to use it for IB Biology

Match your syllabus topics

Upload notes labeled with the topic codes or titles your teacher uses so the outline stays aligned.

Keep IA data separate

Use the tool for content review. Your IA still needs your own experimental design, data and analysis under IB rules.

Check official IB documents

For assessment criteria and paper structure, use the IB subject guide via your school. We do not invent official weights here.

How to make a study guide with AI in 3 steps

  1. 1

    Add your material

Upload a PDF, PowerPoint, Word or text file — or paste your notes.

  2. 2

    Get your guide

Study Guide Maker builds an outline, key concepts, glossary, practice questions, and flashcards, and tags every point with the page it came from.

  3. 3

    Study, print, or share

Quiz yourself right on the page, flip through flashcards, or export to PDF, Word and CSV.

Cellular Respiration

Cellular respiration is how cells turn the chemical energy in glucose into ATP. It happens in three stages — glycolysis, the Krebs cycle, and the electron transport chain — and releases carbon dioxide and water as by-products.

  1. 1. Overview of cellular respiration

    • Overall equation: C6H12O6 + 6 O2 → 6 CO2 + 6 H2O + energy (ATP + heat).p. 1
    • Aerobic respiration needs oxygen and yields far more ATP than fermentation.p. 1
  2. 2. Glycolysis

    • Glucose is split into two pyruvate molecules in the cytoplasm, producing a net gain of 2 ATP and 2 NADH.p. 2
    • Glycolysis does not require oxygen.p. 2
  3. 3. Krebs (citric acid) cycle

    • Takes place in the mitochondrial matrix; each acetyl-CoA produces 3 NADH, 1 FADH2, 1 ATP and 2 CO2.p. 3
  4. 4. Electron transport chain

    • Located in the inner mitochondrial membrane; NADH and FADH2 donate electrons that pump H+ ions and drive ATP synthase.p. 4
    • Oxygen is the final electron acceptor and forms water.p. 4
